Affordable Housing Bill raised in Seanad

This week I spoke on the Affordable Housing Bill in the Seanad.

People have to have a home – it is absolutely the most important thing for people and they must be offered homes within a sustainable community with adequate amenities and supports.

This requires proper thought and planning and due regard for safety. We cannot have a quick fix solution to our housing crisis. There are four elements to this Bill and it is the first to focus solely on people of every age who cannot afford a home and as such are being denied a sense of identity and a sense of purpose and a route out of their parents houses.
