Area Based Transport Assessment for Newbridge

Fianna Fail Senator Fiona O’Loughlin has welcomed the development of an Area Based Transport Assessment (ABTA) for by Kildare County Council.

Senator O’Loughlin said, “Traffic and traffic management is such a huge issue for us in Newbridge. I am pleased that the ABTA will address traffic congestion, parking, traffic management, road safety, public transport, walking and cycling. The delivery of the measures in the assessment should help to make Newbridge a more attractive place to live, work and visit.”

“This a welcome advancement, but we all know that the major traffic and congestion issues are caused by the lack of a second bridge, something I have been working closely with Minister Darragh O’Brien to deliver.”

“However, we do need to do what we can in the meantime to combat the issue and that is what this ABTA seeks to achieve. As part of this project Kildare County Council are holding the first stage consultation with relevant stakeholders and the public. A public survey will begin tomorrow, Wednesday 3rd of August 2022 and will run for six weeks until Wednesday 14th of September 2022.”

Fiona concluded by saying “It is vitally important that all aspects of the issue are communicated to Kildare County Council at this early stage to ensure that this project focuses on the issues affecting us, the people of Newbridge. I would encourage you to engage with this consultation.”
