Expansion Of Dental Services For Medical Card Holders

Fianna Fáil Senator Fiona O’Loughlin has welcomed the Expansion of Dental Services For Medical Card Holders.

Senator O’Loughlin said, “I am contacted on a regular basis by people in Kildare South who are struggling to access appropriate dental services, especially those on medical cards. This is something I have raised with the Minister Donnelly and others within the Fianna Fáil parliamentary party for some time.”

“Today Minister Donnelly approved new measures to provide expanded dental health care for medical card holders in the Dental Treatment Services Scheme and has also committed to a review of the Scheme to ensure its future viability.”

“The immediate priority is to address issues facing medical card patients in accessing treatment. Approval has been granted for increases in the fees payable to contracted dentists. This includes examinations and fillings, and the reintroduction of Scale and Polish for medical card patients.”

Fiona concluded by saying “I am hopeful that as a result of these changes that we will see greater dental access in South Kildare.”
