Nominated to represent Fianna Fáil on the Implementation Group for Seanad Reform

Fiona O’Loughlin, TD for Kildare South has been nominated to represent Fianna Fáil on the Implementation Group for the All Party Working Group on Seanad Reform.

The purpose of the Implementation group is to oversee the implementation of the reforms recommended in the Manning Report.

After her nomination O’Loughlin said, “I welcome the decision by Fianna Fáil Party Leader, Micheál Martin to include me on the Implementation Group for the Seanad Reform. I feel that including members of the Dáil and Seanad from all parties and groups who are involved and see the day to day workings of the Seanad will enhance the overall reform of the Seanad

“Some of the tasks will involve considering how to implement the recommendations, consider and prepare any recommended amendments to the legislation as proposed by the Manning Report, and consider and make recommendations for any phasing of implementation of the Bill’s provisions”.

 “A final report will be given by the group by the end of October 2018 with changes expected to commence in 2019. I look forward to working with the cross party group to make positive changes to our political system”, Concluded O’Loughlin
