Over €350,000 in rural roads funding allocated to Kildare-Senator Fiona O’Loughlin

Kildare based Senator Fiona O’Loughlin has welcomed the announcement of €351,880 to fund upgrade works on rural roads and laneways throughout Kildare.

Senator O’Loughlin said, “Today’s funding announcement has been made available under the Local Improvement Scheme (LIS), and will support the continued improvement of non-public roads and lanes that are not normally maintained by the local authorities.”

“We all know of badly maintained access lane ways etc that are vital to the daily work on farms and other agri businesses as well as for residential access. These are vital pieces of rural infrastructure and they need to be maintained, which is what this funding aims to do.”

Fiona concluded by saying “I would urge Kildare County Council to make full use of this vital funding stream and to add rural roads and laneways to their maintenance plans as soon as possible.”
