Positive response from locals for economic opportunities- O’Loughlin

Fiona O’Loughlin, TD for South Kildare hosted another meeting relating the the Barrow Blueway. This meeting focused on the business and tourist opportunities deriving from the development of the Blueway through South Kildare and parts of Laois.

The Fianna Fáil TD said, “I was delighted to host my four meeting around the Blueway particularly since the announcement of the five million euro from national funding to progress with developing the Blueway. Jacqui McNabb from the Local Enterprise Office and Karl Duffy from the County Kildare LEADER Partnership both spoke on the evening around supports and advice available for anyone starting up a new business and grant aid available for communities and businesses looking to set up close to the Blueway.

South Kildare and particularly areas along the canals that run through Kildare, will hopefully see increased tourism into the towns and villages from this development. The Blueway will be a fantastic boost for tourism and will be a local amenity for Kildare.

The Blueway can have a massive positive impact on the local towns and villages it passes through if communities and businesses work together. Jacqui reiterated the need for communities to work side by side in order to have a successful business that will bring employment and economic growth to towns and villages.

I want to see Kildare strive as well as the Waterford Greenway and I know we can all work collectively to achieve results going forward.
