Record funding delivered under sports capital grant funding

Newbridge based Senator Fiona O’Loughlin has welcomed the announcement of €5.4 million in funding for sports clubs in South Kildare.

Senator O’Loughlin said, “I was pleased to show Minister Jack Chambers around South Kildare at the end of last year where he toured many of our sporting facilities. As part of his visit, I escorted the Minister to a number of lotto grant applicants around the South of the County.”

“I had been working with the Minister prior to his visit on these applications and felt that introducing the Minister to the local applicants would really showcase the quality of the sporting clubs we have in South Kildare”.

“I am delighted to see that many of the clubs that I have been advocating on behalf of have been successful in securing funding. To see small villages such as Rathangan getting in excess of 300,000 shows our Government’s commitment to supporting rural Ireland. Newbridge also securing significant funding supporting football, community, athletics, pitch and putt and golf. This money will have a hugely positively impact on our local communities. There is a good geographical and sporting spread in today’s announcement, from Clogherinkoe, Carbury, Robertstown, two mile house, Milltown and Monasterevan  GAA to Castle villa soccer and Cill Dara Golf club.

Fiona concluded “I want to thank Minister Chambers and his officials for listening to my calls and for supporting our local communities. We all know the huge contribution that sports club make to our communities, and as a national representative I could not be happier to see my party supporting these vital community organisations.”
