Senator Fiona O’Loughlin calls for action in relation to Monasterevin Day Care Centre

Today in the Senate, Kildare based Senator Fiona O’Loughlin called for action on the development of Monasterevin Day Care Centre.

Senator O’Loughlin said “The community in Monasterevin were devastated in 2014 by the closure of the Day Care, and since then has been house within the pavilion of Monasterevin GFC”

“This arrangement, whilst functional for a period of time, is not practical in the longterm, and the centre absolutely needs its own space to develop and care for their clients. The return of outdoor sport has put additional pressure on the Day Care centre with Monasterevin GFC becoming busier and busier, this could reduce the amount of time available for the centre”

“Planning permission for the refurbishment and development of the day care centre to a health care centre was granted on the 27th of May 2020, and while this was understandably delayed due to covid, we now need to see action and the works need to start as a matter of priority”

Fiona concluded “This is a vital project for the entire community in Monasterevin. Monasterevin Day Care Centre is voluntary, and was established in 1996, some 25 years ago. We need to see action taken here to protect this vital service . I have written to the Minister asking that he intervene to ensure action is taken”
