Senator Fiona O’Loughlin calls for Allenwood to be included by the NTA as part of its Connecting Ireland Initiative.

Fianna Fail Senator Fiona O’Loughlin calls for Allenwood to be included by the NTA as part of its Connecting Ireland Initiative.

Senator O’Loughlin said, “In the Senate yesterday, I called for the new plan which will connect Athy, through to Rathangan to be extended to Allenwood.”

“This is key in terms of connecting people without their own transport to avail of services, leisure activities, employment and training opportunities.”

“There is a distinct lack of service in the area for NUIM, for example there is only one services between Rathangan and Allenwood, which only runs twice a day, five days a week”

Fiona concluded “This change would encourage more people to avail of attractions in the area and would help boost tourism in areas such as IPCC, Lullymore Heritage & Discovery Park, Killinthomas Woods and new developments like Umeras Peatlands Park and Church of Oak Distillery.”
