Senator Fiona O’Loughlin has welcomed the announcement of €7,930,377.00 for Kildare. Earlier today the Government announced that Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has issued the Greenways and national road funding allocations totalling €676 million to local authorities for 2022, with just under €8 million being allocated to South Kildare.
Senator O’Loughlin said, “I am pleased to see my Government Colleagues allocating €7,930,377.00. Today’s allocation is an important step on a pathway of planned investment in our national road network over the coming decade.”
“Traffic is a particular issue for us in South Kildare, especially in and round Kildare Town and Newbridge. The National Road projects will prioritise safety, regional connectivity, bypasses and key NDP projects, and I will be advocating for congestion to be dealt with in and around our town.”
“The funding for the greenways is also particularly welcome. The €1.5 million in funding that has been allocated for greenway projects such as Royal Canal and Grand Canal greenways will also benefit us in Kildare and will hopefully provide us with an additional long term tourist attraction.”
Fiona concluded “This funding is most welcome, and I look forward to seeing these projects progress.”
