Fianna Fail education spokesperson Senator Fiona O’Loughlin has announced that SUSI is open for Student Grant Applications for Academic Year 2022/23
Senator O’Loughlin said, “SUSI is key to funding third level education for so many households and families.”
“I am really pleased that because of my lobbying and that of others the annual maintenance grant will increase by €200. Income thresholds for all grant rates except the Special Rate will increase by €1,000. The qualifying distance for the non-adjacent rate of maintenance grant will reduce from 45km to 30km.”
“This is the first time we have seen changes to the qualifying criteria for a number of years. I would like to see more progress in that regard in the coming years and will continue to advocate for that, but its positive to see it moving in the right direction.”
Fiona concluded by saying “I would encourage everyone to get their applications in early, the priority closing date for renewal applications is 9 June 2022, with the priority closing new applications on 7 July 2022.”
