Three South Kildare School reconfigurations Approved under the Additional School Accommodation Scheme

Fianna Fáil Education spokesperson and local Senator Fiona O’Loughlin has welcome approval of 3 projects for South Kildare Schools under the Additional Accommodation Scheme.

The Additional Accommodation Scheme ensures that essential classroom accommodation is available to cater for the number of pupils enroled in a school.

Athy Model School, Gaelscoil Chill Dara and Scoil Bhríde (Athgarvan) have been approved.

O’Loughlin said “I am pleased to have received confirmation from my colleague the Minister for Education Norma Foley TD that three local school projects will be progressing under the Additional Accommodation Scheme.”

“Athy Model School, Gaelscoil Chill Dara and Scoil Bhríde have been approved for a refurbishment project for the reconfiguration to create 1 Special Class in each school.”

O’Loughlin concluded “Special education is a hugely important area, and I have always been a strong advocate for expanded provision to support those students with additional needs.”
