Fianna Fáil Senator Fiona O’Loughlin has welcomed announcement by her colleague the Minister for Agriculture, Charlie McConalogue TD that applications will now be accepted for the tillage incentive scheme and the protein/cereal mix crop scheme.
Farmers wishing to apply for the scheme can do so either themselves or through their advisor up to 20th July 2022 by logging on to the Exceptional Aid System on www.agfood.ie.
Senator O’Loughlin said, “The Tillage Incentive Scheme and the Protein/Cereal Mix Crop Scheme aim to incentivise farmers to grow more tillage and protein crops to reduce the dependency on imported feed material. Given the clear international supply chain issues, this is key to reducing our dependency on imported material and will help make us more self-sufficient into the future.”
Fiona concluded “It is important to note that the crops declared on the 2022 BPS application are the basis for entry into these schemes and for any future payments under the schemes. Applicants must apply for the Schemes on www.agfood.ie to be eligible for payment under the Schemes.”
