Senator Fiona O’Loughlin welcomes the launch of the Thoroughbred Country Development Plan for Kildare and Tipperary

Counties Kildare and Tipperary are set to benefit from a new Destination Experience Development Plan that will bring to life the extraordinary thoroughbred horse tradition, the world-renowned horse people, their crafts and the breeding heritage that is synonymous with Ireland

Senator O’Loughlin said “Today I participated in the launch of Failte Irelands Thoroughbred Country Development Plan for Kildare and Tipperary at the Irish National Stud”

“The plan is substantial and will help us to build on our existing tourism infrastructure to ensure that we continue to attract and utilise our equine tourism to its full potential. I am confident that this plan will create dynamic destination and will assist us in attracting domestic and international visitors. Establishing our region as the world’s leading thoroughbred experience will be critical to increasing our tourism sector and marketing our equine industry abroad”

“The plan includes some very exciting initiatives such as the new International Thoroughbred Trail, the Irish National Stud Experience, the Fethard Horse Country Experience, the Coolmore Experience, the Mingle with the Stars Stallion Trail, the Curragh Behind the Scenes Tour and Trainers’ Yards Visits. Our heritage and the legacy of the Thoroughbred is a hugely significant part of what we have to offer here in Kildare”

Fiona concluded “I look forward to engaging with this five-year plan, and working collaboratively with Failte Ireland and the Thoroughbred country steering group to see this plan come to fruition”
